Chris Casola was named Associated Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Welfare and Performance in January of 2018.

Casola at a Glance:

• In his current role, Casola manages all aspects of student-athlete welfare and performance for all of Liberty’s NCAA Division I student-athletes.
• Provides administrative oversite of Champion Performance; sports medicine, nutrition, athletic performance, applied performance, clinical and sports psychology and spiritual development.
• The primary focus of the Champion Performance Team is to ensure that student-athletes are developed and cared for in a holistic manner; physically, mentally and spiritually.
• Member of the athletics senior leadership team and serves as the sports program administrator for softball and women’s swimming and diving.
• Serves as the NCAA designated Healthcare Administrator for Liberty Athletics.
• Two previous appointments within the sports medicine department at Liberty:
  • Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Basketball team 1993-94 and 2003-05
  • Head Football Athletic Trainer 2005-11
• Elevated to Assistant AD for Sports Medicine from 2005-2011
• In addition to his work with the Flames, Casola’s 30-year background in athletic performance and medicine includes stops in performance coaching for junior and professional tennis athletes as well as athletic training services at the high school, junior college and NCAA Division III collegiate level, clinical rehabilitation and an administrative role within an orthopedic practice.
• Earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Liberty University.
• Certified athletic trainer through the NATABOC and a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.
• Casola and his wife Angie reside in Lynchburg with their two sons – Kyle and Nathan.
